Use of meeting/study facilities

Kyushu University has a range of meeting rooms, study facilities and accommodation. Please make use of them for conferences, research meetings, lectures, or residential programs.

○Kyushu University Nishijin Plaza

Kyushu University Nishijin Plaza was opened as part of the celebrations for the 80th Anniversary of the founding of Kyushu University in October 2001, and functions as a location of international academic research, social partnership and information distribution.

It can be used not only for international research events, but also a wide range of meetings, conferences, symposiums, public lectures, workshops and study meetings to promote academic research.

You can check the reservation status and make a tentative reservation on the website.

○Centennial Hall

This venue can be used not only for education and research, but also for research conferences and meetings both inside and outside the University, and for international conferences.

It can also be used for public lectures to which local residents are invited, exhibitions of medical information, and as a cultural activities and meeting ground for local residents

It can be used as a venue for meetings about academic-industrial collaboration with companies, as well as offering a place to relax before conferences. The office also holds information about the University, and visitors are welcome to drop in at any time

○Hakata Station Office

The Hakata Station Office has been established as the center for information communication and collection, and for interaction with the community through a range of activities.

Kyushu University Business School (QBS) classes are held at the meeting room on the 9th floor of JR Hakata City. This takes advantage of the location of Hakata Station which is the transportation hub of Kyushu. The office has two open concept conference rooms with low partition walls. They can be used for meetings with corporations for industrial and academic collaboration as well as for online meetings. The meeting room managed by JR Hakata City can also be used for public lectures and symposiums. (usage fees are payable by the department using the facility).

The office also holds information about the University, and visitors are welcome to drop in at any time

○Kuju Joint Training Center for National Universities in Kyushu Area

Kuju Joint Training Center for National Universities in Kyushu Area is a research facility provided for the staff and students of the national universities in the Kyushu region, and was opened in July 1968.Staff are welcome to use it for residentials and study meetings.

○Mountain House (Yamano Ie) (Kuju Joint Training Center)

The “mountain house” was opened as a facility for teaching staff and students at Kyushu University in 1937. It was refurbished in August 2005, and has been reborn as a new facility with higher standards of comfort for users.

The rich natural environment allows for refreshment of both hearts and minds, and gives rise to great levels of creative thought. This is a wonderful place to visit in order to improve efficiency in lessons or research.

○Inamori Center

The Inamori Center is located on Ito Campus. It was kindly donated to Kyushu University in 2011 by the Inamori Foundation as a new education and research facility. It was donated to celebrate the centenary of our foundation with the objective of “Pioneering a new age of knowledge”.

The Inamori Hall is used, under the terms of the Inamori Center, as a center of academic cultural interchange, for conferences, research meetings, lectures, etc.

Inamori Hall: The Inamori Hall (1F) seats 288.Depending on the size of the meeting, it can be partitioned into two or three different rooms. The center meeting room on the 2F has a large table, 10 chairs, a speaker’s dressing room, and a lounge.

○Ito Guest House

The Ito Guest House is a wooden three-story house across from Shiiki Hall. It has a conference room, a multi-purpose hall as well as 33 rooms for accommodation of foreign researchers and such.

○Shiiki Hall

The Shiiki Hall was donated to commemorate the University's 100th anniversary by Mr. Masakazu Shiiki (born in Yukuhashi City; 1928-2016), the founder of Sanyo Shinpan Finance Co., Ltd. (incorporated with SMBC Consumer Finance), who supported the University's vision of becoming a world-class research center and hoped that the University would produce a great deal of outstanding talent who would contribute to the sustainable development of human society. The Shiiki Hall consists of a circular main concert hall 100 m in diameter and an administration building. The concert hall seats up to about 3,000 people and is used for entrance and degree conferment ceremonies, academic conferences, and other large events. In addition to the concert hall and administration building, it houses lecture rooms, a permanent gallery/exhibition, and a restaurant. The facilities are also available for use by the local community and others outside the university, for such purposes as meetings, seminars, concerts, and exhibitions.

〇Kyushu University Ito Clinic

Ito Clinic is located on Ito Campus. This clinic (medical institution) can be used freely by the community and everyone at Kyushu University. No referral is needed. There are physicians for acute medical conditions such as colds, stomach-aches, diarrhea, and for lifestyle diseases. And the psychiatry department is for mental disorders caused by stress etc.

○Nihonbashi Satellite Shared Facility

Kyushu University Nihonbashi Satellite location was established as an activity hub for the Tokyo metropolitan area. It is to promote industrial collaboration for creating innovation in the field of Life Sciences and Biotechnologies. (Hereinafter referred to as “Field of Life Sciences”)

In the same building as the Satellite location, there are conference rooms (Hereinafter referred to as “shared facilities”). They can be used for free or for a fee (special fee) for conferences related to Life Sciences, meetings and other events.

Nihonbashi in Tokyo is one of the biggest hubs where major corporations and research institutes of the Life Sciences field gather. It is a perfect location for collecting and spreading information as well as collaborating with corporations. Please use it freely as a place for industrial collaboration activities.
