Overview

The PI personnel expenses system refers to a system where a portion of a researcher’s personnel expenses is allocated from the direct costs of competitive research funds obtained by the researcher as a principal investigator or collaborator. This system allows the initial employment funding thus generated to be utilized for the improvement of the researcher’s own welfare and enhancement of the university’s research capabilities.

At our university, based on the decision of the Inter-Ministerial Liaison Committee on Competitive Research Grants on October 9, 2020, regarding the “Expenditure of Principal Investigator’s Personnel Expenses from the Direct Costs of Competitive Research Grants,” we have been implementing this system since AY 2021.
