In the fiscal year 2009, the Institute for Advanced Study was established as a university-wide organization transcending individual departments to advance the university's cutting-edge research. Its purpose is to enable the university to achieve outstanding research results that lead the academic world as a global center for education and research, and to contribute these results back to society.
