National Universities used to be a part of the national governmental structure, but since April 2004 they have been turned into individual national university corporations with the enactment of the National University Corporation Act. As a result of this, Kyushu University became an institution established under the jurisdiction of the National University Corporation Kyushu University. According to this, the budget and organizational scale allocated by the government was significantly reduced, but the University became able to allocate these at will. Through changing our management from a structure in which the faculty council played a central role into a top-down format, which not only increased the speed of decision-making but has also efficiently reflected the leadership of the President in university management and operations.
